Heard 'Em Say Youth Arts Collective
Our open mic runs from 7:00-9:00p on the last Friday of every month (except for November and December to avoid school closures we move to the 3rd Friday) in the large event space on the 2nd floor. Our workshops and other events vary, so stay tuned to our website and social media for updates.
Heard 'Em Say Youth Arts Collective was established in May 2007, by founder Walter "Wally B" Jennings, to identify, cultivate, and empower young people in activism and advocacy through artistic education and expression. Our programs serve youth ages 19 and younger, with special focus on middle and high school age youth.
We give students tools and platforms to share stories about what matters to them. Our monthly open mic welcomes performers of all kinds who are 19 and younger. Our workshop programming reaches students at middle and high schools across the Tampa Bay area. Our traveling performance teams provide stages for our students to advocate for themselves across the state and country. The Torch, our literary magazine, offers students engagement with publication and the opportunity to serve on an editorial board.
